New: Badges — our brand-new feature that lets you award special badges to users who make your community a lively and engaging place.
Hi folks,
Looking for a way to boost engagement and show some love to members of your community who keep the conversation flowing?
Introducing Badges – our new engagement feature that lets you lets you bestow special badges onto commenters who make your community a lively and welcoming place worth coming back to again and again.
Badges appear directly next to commenters' usernames inside each of their comments. Here's an example of a user who has earned a few sweet badges over at The Avocado:
You can choose to award automated badges triggered once a commenter reaches certain criteria – number of comments or upvotes, for example – or instead give out manual badges for, well, just about anything you like! You see a hilarious comment and want to award a Class Clown badge on the spot? The power is yours.
Badges also allow you to add visual flair to your commenting section that is fun and unique to your community - just check out the snazzy collection of badges created by our good friends at ScreenAge Wasteland:
Simply put, badges make your commenters feel loved, and users who feel loved become loyal users who will spend more time on your site contributing to community engagement and boosting traffic.
But don't just take it from us:
"When we implemented badges onto our site, we saw our community really latch onto it almost instantly. Commenters were excited when they received a badge! They couldn't wait to get another one! Badges have been a great way to keep track of our regular commenters, but they have also acted as a nice way of saying thank you to the commenters for continuing to support our site each and every day."

Starting today, Badges are available to Disqus Pro and Business customers.
