Dear Customer, | Our representatives will never call you from numbers starting with 1800 or 1860, asking for your Debit/Credit Card details such as Card No., Expiry Date, CVV, OTP or PIN to set credit limits or redeem Reward Points/Vouchers or to activate your Card. These are FAKE phone calls. | | Here's how fraudsters typically operate: | | | | Fraudsters place the call using caller ID spoofing apps. The number appearing on your mobile screen will be that of the call centers and would be starting with 1800 or +1860 | | | | | | | | The caller mentions that they're calling to activate your card, and for setting credit limits. They then gain your confidence by asking you to verify that the number they are calling from is the same toll-free number that is mentioned on the back of the Debit/Credit Card. | | | | | | | | Once you're convinced, the fraudster will ask you to log in to digital channels to activate e-commerce services on your card. They may also ask you to download a third-party app that will give them access to your system. Once done, a transaction will be initiated by the fraudster. | | | | | | | | You are then asked to read out the OTP sent to your number. Once you share the OTP, it is instantly misused and a fraud takes place. | | | | | | | Warm regards, Team Kotak Mahindra Bank | | |
