Dear Customer,
If you own a vehicle, you need to stay alert of the new e-challan fraud!
Fraudsters are sending fake e-challan payment messages that look similar to real challan notifications. These messages contain harmful links that can compromise your bank account and other personal information when they are clicked.
How does this fraud happen?
icon Fraudsters pose as traffic police officials, sending text messages demanding payment for traffic violations.
icon The message usually has a link that the customer is asked to click and make the payment online.
icon The link takes the customer to a fake website where they are prompted to provide their personal and financial information.
icon In some cases, by clicking on the links, the customer can end up granting hackers access to their mobile devices, resulting in fraudulent withdrawals and loss of sensitive personal information.
icon Fraudsters also try to scare customers with threatening calls and messages from numbers that appear as 'City Control Room', 'E-Challan Recover', etc. on phone apps.
